Father's Day

Despite not feeling well, Mark enjoyed his day.  The kids each chose a card for him, Connor made an additional handmade one, he requested chicken cacciatore for dinner, favorite cookies and ice cream, and gifts.  Ryan was also allowed to call him and to read a letter that each of the guys had written their fathers.

My friends told us that Ryan seemed more content this week so hopefully he'll be able to call us soon.  Hard to believe it's been almost a month since he left.  We are all anxious to see him.

Last week was also our 24th wedding anniversary.  It really is hard to believe that many years have gone by!

Connor continues to love football practice.  Each night he comes home and draws the plays he's learned that day into his notebook.  That notebook goes to bed with him so he can study it a few more minutes before falling asleep!  He and Kelleigh continue to be getting along well which is a nice change of pace.  The pool has been used more this summer so far than it was all last year combined.  We're definitely enjoying our slow mornings and sleeping in!

Mark starts teaching a summer class at Francis Parker next week which lasts two weeks.  Things are stressful at work for him as the contract he works on is threatening to be cancelled.  We're hoping that doesn't happen for obvious reasons!

Only a few days to go!

Yippee - it's the last week of school!  I'm not sure who is the most excited but it will be a busy week.  Wednesday Kelleigh has their 7th grade pool party so Saturday included a trip to the store to get some swimsuits.  After a fitting room full of suits, she chose a couple that we both agreed to.  The bikini will be an 'at home' suit while the tankini is fine for church camp and the school party.  Thursday is Connor's promotion ceremony in the morning then he gets to leave; Kelleigh gets out at 11:10 that day then we will all go to lunch.  I'm squeezing in lunch with a girlfriend tomorrow while no kids are home!

A friend who's son is also at the house where Ryan is called me yesterday to tell me he is doing good.  He got interrogated at the family meeting Saturday which she said was emotional.  He had to tell everyone what he'd been doing since he returned home from there in November and what brought him back.  She said he handled it well.  He was also told he couldn't call or see us until they told him so.  That will have a significant impact on him.  Makes me sad but is what needs to happen.

We had a beautiful weekend and got to enjoy time by the pool which was so relaxing.  It's to be a lovely week as well.  Off to do a few things before the maids arrive ... have a great day!
