Cards and butterfly

Connor was so excited to find this "perfect" (albeit dead) butterfly in the pool Sunday. I was amazed that it was so intact and not waterlogged!

To maintain some of my sanity, I made a couple Halloween cards I thought I'd share with you. I really meant to get one made for everyone, but obviously that didn't happen - I'll try for Thanksgiving! The witch is actually 3D and the inside appropriately says "If the broom fits, fly it" ... a motto I have adopted, while the second one looks cuter in real life as the bow is rather funky on the picture.

Pumpkin Artwork

Connor did this piece in his Art class today. He is very much enjoying this advanced art class and they have joined a website where they can post the kids work and pieces can be printed into postcards, shirts, etc.

Ryan ends first half in ER

After starting one of his best games this season, RB's opponent draws a face mask penalty as Ryan is hurt on a series of plays. The trainer worked with him for a while but, when it was clear he wasn't improving, we were called down to take him to ER. Fortunately it's only a mild concussion and we've been able to keep the headache under control. As we were driving from Vista back to Pomerado Hospital, he told me he felt better and could I take him back as he thought he could play the rest of the game! Mark caught the play on tape that drew the penalty and Ryan was able to see himself wobbling ...

Halloween centerpiece

I decided before October was over I should get out the few Halloween items I have. I discovered this cute pumpkin and asked Blanche if she would put an arrangement in it so I could use it on the table. The pictures below are what she did and it's beautiful. She is very creative with floral arrangements which I envy given it's definitely not my forte!

I love vintage!

When I saw this card on another cardmaker's site, I had to get the paper and pieces! I made this to give to a friend who is having surgery this week. Isn't it cute? The toaster and toast are 3D.

It's football season!

I've been very remiss in keeping up with this blog but I thought I'd share a few random pictures. The first couple are the football players in our house ... well, Connor is a wanna-be player and avid Cal fan! This is his attire for every game causing major eyeball rolls from big brother!

Here is a cute birthday treat I made for a little boy at school who I simply adore. It was his 6th birthday on Sunday so I made him this tin with Reese's cups inside. I thought the monkeys were darling!

We also had the privilege of attending one of the most gorgeous weddings I've been to of our friend's daughter. It was held in Balboa Park with a reception following in the ballroom. Everything about the day was simply gorgeous and fun.

I've been busy getting the enrichment program I coordinate going this week and dealing with the issues that seem to arise every year with the school sites. At some point I need to get some Halloween favors created for the kids in my class as it will be the end of the month before you blink twice. We are enjoying some very Fall-like weather with highs in the mid-70s.
